The Landis Arboretum

Esperance, NY

The Landis Arboretum is a private, not-for-profit organization that supports a public garden incorporating hundreds of acres in Schoharie and Montgomery Counties of New York State.

Forty acres of the Arboretum are developed with plantings of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials. A seasonal favorite of our visitors is the Van Loveland Perennial Garden at the old Farmhouse. The remainder of the property consists of natural areas, woodlands, open fields, wetlands, and more than 8 miles of trails.

“In 2024, after receiving a grant from the William Gundry Broughton Charitable Private Foundation, we were able to purchase a tractor which has been invaluable throughout Landis Arboretum. From mulching our collections to hauling compost the bucket and tractor have made it easier for our maintenance crew to perform routine tasks and sped up and improved efficiency.”

- Fred Breglia, Executive Director

“This tractor will continue to be an asset throughout all of the seasons and plans are already underway to use it for brush hogging our fields this fall and aiding in snow removal this winter. We are thankful and cannot express our thanks enough for this funding opportunity”
